[texts]Cacops (Amphibia : Labyrinthodontia) from the Fort Sill Locality, Lower Permian of Oklahoma (Volume Fieldiana, Geology, Vol.37, No.3) - Bolt, John R., 1940-
The armored dissorophid (Superfamily Dissorophoidea) labyrinthodont amphibian Cacops aspidephorus is unusual in having a large otic notch closed posteriorly by the tabular. Cacops was previously known only from the "Cacops Bone Bed," Lower Permian of Texas. Poor preservation makes this material difficult to study. Excellently preserved, though disarticulated, Cacops material has now been recovered from the Fort Sill fissure fills, which are probably very close in age to the "Cacops Bone Bed." Id...

[texts]Permo-Carboniferous fresh water burrows (Volume Fieldiana, Geology, Vol.33, No.15) - Olson, Everett Claire, 1910-1993
Burrow-casts from fresh-water deposits of the Late Paleozoic have given concrete evidence of the aestivation of the lungfish, Gnathorhiza, and the amphibian, Lysorophus. The structure of these burrows and inference concerning the life habits of their occupants are analyzed, with special attention to Lysorophus. A previously unknown type of burrow, found in association with those of lung fish is described...

[texts]Archetypes and ancestors: Palaeontology in Victorian London 1850-1875 - Desmond, Adrian, 1947-
How fossil animals were interpreted by rival sectors of British society, especially by pro- and anti-Darwinian factions. The ideological infighting was typified by T. H. Huxley and Richard Owen's clashes over dinosaurs, the ancestry of mammals and birds, and the kinship of mammal-like reptiles. Also discussed: William Henry Flower.--John Whittaker Hulke.--Harry Govier Seeley.--Charles Robert Darwin.--Edwin Ray Lankester.--Robert Edmond Grant.--John Phillips.--Ernst Haeckel.--St George Mivart.--W...
